Day 58: 7/17/19: Concordia to Manhattan, KS

Up and at 'em early again this morning determined to make it to Alyssa's to see my daughter and granddog, Delta.

Below is a pic of the sunrise this morning.

Today was like the previous few days.  Lots of wind, hills, and headwind.  I think I'm getting more patient with the headwinds. Don't try to beat them or they will beat you.  Just like climbing a mountain, put your bike in a comfortable gear, take your time, and you will eventually get there.  Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow.

I spent several miles on Kansas gravel roads like the one pictured below.  I could have stayed on blacktop U.S. highways, but I was ready for a break from the noisy, speeding traffic.  The isolation from the traffic was nice.  However, I did get passed by a couple of tractors.

Pics below of main street, Clyde, Kansas, which is a neat little town I went through today.

Looks like the old homestead pictured below is just about to give in to time.

I finally made it to Alyssa's apartment.  Alyssa was still at work when I arrived, but left a key hidden outside so I could get in.  Delta growled at me when he first saw me, but then immediately warmed up to me.  Below is a pic of Alyssa and Delta.

Alyssa cooked me about 4 servings of spaghetti for supper and I ate it all.  It was fantastic.

Total miles today: 86.3
