Gull Lake is a sleepy little town. The restaurant didn't open for breakfast until 8 a.m., and the grocery store didn't open until 9 a.m. Everyone in these small towns seem to move at a slower pace, which is nice.
I had my usual pancakes at Decades Cafe.
A lot of the talk at the restaurant this morning was about the weather. The locals were even talking about how bad the storm was yesterday.
I spent all day today heading west on the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1). The black spot in the pic below is another wayward soul headed east on the TCH. I would have liked to got his/her story, but as you can see the highway lanes are separated by a high median.
The pic below shows the rain in the distance as I was getting close to Walsh, my stopping place for the night. When I got a out 5 miles out, it started to rain. It was more of a steady drizzle, unlike the downpour yesterday. I still got wet and cold. I am camping by the visitor's center, so no warm shower tonight to warm me up. Shortly after arriving here, the rain stopped and the sun came out and warmed me back up.
As far as my ride today, it was pretty much another all day battle with the wind. On days like today, I just have to accept that I will be going one notch up from a snail's pace, spending hours in the saddle.
These little critters a(prairie dogs) my neighbors for the second time this trip. The first time, they were no problem. Hopefully, they will not bother me tonight, but I'm hanging my food again as a precaution.
Total miles today: 76.0
Two bikers passing in the night, or this case day.
ReplyDeleteYep, and we waved, so we knew everything's alright.
DeleteAll that is missing at breakfast is a Boston egg(s). Maybe you will get another all-day tailwind today. You are due one.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the the prevailing winds (West to East) will blow you home with lots of tailwinds. That's what the Weather Channel is promising.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
And it will all be downhill. I sure could use some Boston eggs.
