It stormed most of the night, and it was rather cool this morning. Woke up to rain, 58 degrees, and about a 14 mph NW wind.
I made it to Brandon and had the breakfast pictured below at the local convenience store. There were no other options in town.
I stayed on the Central Lakes Trail until Fergus Falls, and below are a few more pics from the trail.
When I was at Fergus Falls, I pulled over on the side of the road and called Lisa to see if she could find a buffet restaurant in the city. As I was talking to her, a couple of local women drove up and asked if I needed help finding anything. I told them I was looking for a restaurant with veggies, preferably a buffet. They recommended the Viking Cafe, and I followed them to the restaurant. It was a good place to eat. Below are a few pics from the restaurant.
Below is a pic of a big otter statue at Fergus Falls. I believe the area is called Otter Tail Valley and it is in Otter Tail County.
I met this guy on the road to Barnesville. His name is Dale and he is heading to St. Paul, MN from Washington State to visit his daughter. He said he has been on the road full time for 3 years.
Below are pics of a couple of bald eagles and their nest that I passed along the way. Hopefully, you will be able to make out the eagles.
I made it to Barnesville, and will be camping there tonight. When I pulled up to the campground, there were 3 other touring cyclists there. They are going from Everett, WA to Portland, Maine. This is their 22nd day on the road. They invited me to share their campsite with them. Below is a pic of the campsite.
Below is a pic of 2 of the cyclists, John and Merrill. Frank, the 3rd cyclist was already in his tent between John and Merrill when the pic was taken.
Total miles today: 77.1
This is such a cool blog! Thank you for posting all of these pictures and stories. What an incredible journey you are on.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. I appreciate your interest.
DeleteThank goodness for convenience stores with their 'cycling fuel options' to keep you from starving.
ReplyDeleteKeep sending great pictures, such as the giant otter. Wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

I had to double back to get a picture of that. I was following a car to a restaurant when I first saw it.
