Day 11: 6/29/24: Chanute to Eureka, KS

It rained this morning starting at about 3:30.  It rained on and off until about 6:45 a.m., so I just stayed inside my tent until the rain stopped.

Another cyclist joined us at the park after I went inside my tent for the evening.  I didn't get to meet that person.  They were still inside their tent when I left.

I've ridden the route I took today several times.  When most people think of Kansas, they just think of it being flat.  There were several hills on today's route.  Eastern Kansas has what is called the Flint Hills.  It was also pretty hot and humid today.  The cows in the pic below had the right idea.  Ahhhhh!!!

There aren't really any substantial towns between Parsons and Eureka, but there are a couple of neat little communities, Toronto and Coyville.  Below is a pic of a sign at the Coyville park which outlines some of the firsts that occurred in Coyville.

Tonight I'm camping at the city park in Eureka.

Total miles today: 66.8
