Day 4: 4/21/21: ? to Barks Plantation Campground

I've been told that I missed seeing elephants in Hohenwald, TN, but I sure caught sight of this little guy near Advance, MO.

The scenery changed quite a bit from yesterday during my ride today.  I must be getting closer to Ozark Mountains.   There were quite a few ups and downs.

My lightweight jacket had a few rips in the upper are when I left on this trip.  While wrestling with the tent in the thicket last night, a small tree branch grabbed it and almost ripped the sleeve completely off. It's been making for chilly shoulder breezes on these cold mornings. Hopefully, I can buy a new jacket at Sierra near Lenexa, KS.

I decided to stop tonight at Barks Plantation Campground in Glenallen, MO.

Sunset at the plantation.

Now this is what I'm talking about!!

Its been a few days since I've had a shower and was looking forward to a hot shower, but it was tepid at best with no heat in the bathroom.  The owner had to cut on the water heater just for me because I was the only one there, so maybe it needed more time to do it's job.  I came out of the shower shivering.  It's seems like I've been shivering a lot lately - could I be getting old??

Total miles today: 72.3

  1. More shivers as I read this! I'll bet you can't wait to get to Hannah's for a hot shower!

  2. That will be nice. I'm hoping the next couple of nights I will be at campgrounds with hot showers. It will be the weekend, so lots more noise.
