First of all, want to give a shout out to my friend, Jes, and her son, Caedmon for a ride to the Chattanooga airport yesterday. You guys are awesome.
Here is Anthony relaxing before the flight.
I think I have mentioned before that Anthony likes bananas, do you see what is on top of his backpack??
Yes, he not only took two bananas, but had cookies and a sandwich in his pocket. So when we were on our first of three legs of our flight, he had himself a really nice meal spread out when everyone else had pretzels and a cookie.
Love him. And yes, he did share his bananas with me.
When I was making the reservations for our flights, the best one that I found flew to Oslo first and then backtracked to Iceland. Which stinks, but now I can say I have been to Norway. Pics below.
And here was a bit of inflight entertainment.
Also, we were there at about 9:30 am Norway time, and look at the people eating at the seafood restaurant that was located next to our departure gate.
I know, right?? Shouldn't they be eating eggs and oatmeal?
The plane didn't have very many people on the leg to Iceland, so I was able to see out of the windows on both sides. I promise, when I saw this, I became very emotional, because I realized we are in real life doing this, which is awesome, and also that I am going to be REALLY cold. But look at this:
So when we arrived, we went to pick up our car and went on our way. We were headed to eat when two indicator lights came on, one for a low tire and a red light that we didn't know it's meaning, but the book said that the car needed to be serviced. So we turned around and went back to the car rental place, and the person said, yeah, that model does that all the time. (!!!!!!!!!) Was that supposed to comfort us??
After we got the car situation straightened out, we headed to Iceland's budget grocery store, Bonus.
And then found our way to our Airbnb in Akranes. We got settled in for the night and decided that since we have been in our clothes for over 24 hours that we would wash them, so we went to put them in, and this is what we saw:
I know that this blog should be on our Greentripping blog, but I don't have our sign in for our google account and Anthony's bike blog is the one I have access to on this trip, so he is letting me hijack his blog so I can chronicle our journey.
I would like to put in a prayer request please. If you don't know already, my mom is battling lung cancer which has spread to some lymph nodes and her bones. She has been going through a rough patch and will be having a brain MRI on Friday to see if they can see what could be causing her unsteadiness. Also, she was in the hospital several weeks ago, and they thought she may have (had?) pneumonia and will be seeing the lung doctor soon to see if he can tell what's going on with her lungs. Would you please pray for her?? And also, I have a very special friend that I would like to add to this request. She has also been diagnosed with cancer, and I know she would appreciate your prayers too.
Glad to see that Anthony is mostly the same; bananas and cookies and a sandwich for that second breakfast, Crocs, but no shorts! The cold must have really gotten to him! Have tons of fun in Iceland and take lots of pictures of the Northern Lights for us. Shelia and I are sad to hear of Lisa’s mom’s health problems and know that she is in our prayers
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing all this! I love the washing machine knob! Prayers will be sent for all your loved ones ( and maybe an extra one for you on your great adventure!)
